Eight murders in seven months, their questions became reason for their murder. From land scandal to exposure of illicit mining activities. These honest warriors of society met an abhorrent fate for speaking truth and their expectation of justice was smothered. They became a danger for those who are corrupt. In the last seven years eight RTI workers lost their lives. On the 20th of July in Ahemdabad Amit Jethwa an RTI worker was killed publicly with bullet. According to Right to Information law, Jethwa exposed the issue of illicit mining in jungle of Geer. Police says that behind his murder is the mining mafiaso. But dismal father of Jethwa, Bhikhu bhai says that his son was murdered by BJP leader and parliamentarian Deenu Bhai Solanki. This allegation has huge effect as Jethwa complained about his illegal activities. Jethwa even stood as independent against him in Lok sabha elections. He was attacked several times. A cement company also suffered because of him. Bhikhu wants CBI to investigate the murder of his son. The irony lies in the fact that the issue is somehow related to BJP ,this is why the BJP state government and police won’t be able to do justice. If the present management is not able to do anything in this regard than what could be the solution. Many RTI workers, journalists and citizens gathered at Gandhi peace foundation on 26 of July. An hour long discussion took place at Samta Sthal of Gandhi Peace Foundation. The conclusion that came out was that Lokyukata and institutions like these should be made more powerful. Another practical solution was given by Arvind Kejariwal that whenever an RTI activist gets warning 500 thousand people should file application from the same name. Government must give attention in these cases before it gets too late.
