Bollywood : Wasted Money

Bollywood started in the year 1899 with  the production of Ek Ladhu film . In 1913 Raja Harishchand, a film by Dada Saheb Falke was among the first mock film. In 1930 Aalamara, the first voice based film by Aadheshshiyar Irani was released, this film blasted on the charts tremendously. After that the series of voice based films started. Then the first short film was made in 1899, Bollywood got a new birth and exact after 11 years in 1910 Hollywood started. Hollywood’s first screening was one Biographic Melodrama. In 2006 Bollywood achieved the business of around 1.75 Billion Dollar, whereas in Hollywood Walt Disney Studio achieved double of it.

According to the known people of industry, it was observed that Bollywood can achieve the business 3.4 Billion Dollar till 2010, but after the completion of six months of this year, Prakash Jha “Rajneeti” is the only movie which performed little well on the charts, whereas 125 films was already released but no one can reached to that level .Industry already bearing a loss of 400-450 crores, but still films are being made as earlier. According to sources around 500 films were made in Hollywood, 1000 films in Bollywood every year. In comparison to the whole world many less films were made in Hollywood, but whatever films were made they easily achieved around 75% of revenue collected easily. Films achieved 50% of profit from foreign countries only, it was observed that after 10-12 years, the profit for these films is going to increased around 80%.If we kept in mind this business then Bollywood films can make 20% of their business in foreign countries .This year many films were released but still Bollywood won’t able to do great business, sometimes many films won’t able to achieve the spended amount on each film, this becoming a  very tensed situation.

Hindi cinema is always divided into two categories. Here one side is fame and money and on the other side it’s the impact of these things. Bollywood films divided into two parts that is Art and Commercial. Commercial films caters to Entertainment, this includes Comedy, Romance, Suspense, Bhoot-Pret ets. Movie revolves around these subjects only. Here the use of camera was indicated so well where no emphasis is given on the story. Mostly all the films were made of high budget, where Art films depict to the culture, these films belongs to Social Awareness, Important Truth and all the facts related to it. In this, story will show directly. The fact is nobody is talking interest in these kind of films nor Directors take any interest in making such kind of films. This is the reason that interesting stories won’t able to reach to the audiences. Mostly for the sake of money not much importance is given to the presentation of these kinds of films, but Directors won’t get back in investing in much Masala films. Normal presentation of films depicts these kind of movies to audience as boring, Pakoa movie etc. Some Art films was not at all known by the audience and these films can’t do great business where in overseas these kinds of films want great attention.

Since some years all the Directors promoting their films on such a large scale just to attract the audience some times fake controversies were also made  to highlight the film in audience mind and do good business. But hardly any Director put an eye on Art film. This is the main reason that good films are not being released and goes off air and Hindi cinema is losing its impact on audiences. Now films were made on the story of Hollywood but still can’t do that business. Hardly any film attracted the audience and floop films lead the charts this time also. Billu Barbar, Kurbaan, Blue, kambakt Ishq, Dil Bole Hadippa, Chandni Chowk To China, De Danna Dhan etc were made their business in crores but didn’t done well on  the charts where Irfan Khan Thanx Maa and Nasrudin Shah’s Bola Ram and Aparna Sen Gupta Japense Wife done really well but this praise was at the level of Critics only. Director-Producer don’t want to take any risk against it, they feel that as such they are trying to waste their time and money on it. They want to spend their time and money on such films that’s going to give them back great success and fame and most important money. Where Directors like Madhur Bhandarkar proved themselves and make another example in the Hindi Cinema. His films won’t come under Art or in Commercial category. Madhur said” We need to show the reality of the world to the audiences by making such kind of films, whatever films I a make, all films belong to some or the other main topic”. Bollywood other Directors-Producers must learn something from him. If they all run on Madhur’s track they can easily achieve their fame and money, just to take films to another direction it’s really needed to improve Bollywood scenario into some new words.
