How can Kashmir break free the vicious circle of violence?

The endless Kashmir dispute is spinning its wheel. Our armed forces especially CRPF is increasing the problem. Unfortunately even today the kashmir issue is considered as law and order problem. Dreams, desires and expectations of common man is  ignored. Our armed forces are continuously violating human rights. If this goes on Kashmir will soon become a huge graveyard. Each day many youth protestor die with a forlorn hope and next day they are replaced by another bunch of protestors. Seems nothing could stop them not even the fear of death. Recently the survey by think tank of  Britain have explained that only 4 per cent Kashmiris want to be be in Pakistan.

People of Kashmir perhaps have a huge faith in Mufti as they feel that she is the only leader who could debate openly and come to an appropriate solution. Omar Abdulla proved to unsuccessful in having control on the situation. He hesitates to debate openly with Central government. The Kashmir problem has constitutional aspect also. Our constitution has given it an autonomous status. It was validated by Nehru – Abdulla treaty. But the pressure of right wing political power became an obstacle in providing it complete autonomy.

In 2004 for the first time fair election took place in Kashmir. During my Kashmir tour many people discussed with me that if election will take place in this manner certainly in the near  future situations will change. In this way Kashmir will be attached to India emotionally.  In 2009 situation were fine at great extent but Omar Abdulla flunked to maintain the stability. No doubt Kashmir problem need a peaceful solution.

In August 2006 Prime Minsiter,   Manmohan Singh  went to Sri Nagar for round table conference. He gave a statement that from now on human rights won’t be violated. He used the word zero tolerance in this regard. But still fake encounters take place in the region.

As per my observation I can assertively say that   leaving a minor portion aside most of the people in Kashmir don’t want to be in Pakistan. The central and state government should take every possible step to make this a reality.

In democracy there is no place for fake encounters. It’s the biggest failure of government that  naïve people are killed by army and police. The officials must be punished. We should solve the Kashmir problem on two basis. First on internal level  and second in Pakistan. I don’t want to say anything in matter of Pakistan. But its pivotal  to have peace and  serenity in any case. It’s quite impractical to look for panacea or an Utopian solution however we can’t deny that development can thaw the conditions at great extent. Providing government jobs to the young Kashmiris outside the state will have a wonderful effect. The rail facilities should also be extended to increase the connectivity. Violation of human rights must be avoided and reduced as much as possible. These are few ways that will lead to the road of peace and rest will be discovered in the journey.
