leadIn a programme on Aaj Tak, Punya Prasun Bajpai said something that caused deep shock in everyone’s heart. On the Anna-Arvind letter controversy he said that a dream was dying because of it. But in the video that came before the world exactly 72 hours after that, it was proved that it was not the death of a dream but a dream had been killed, been murdered. The main accused in this murder is Arvind Kejriwal, whose ambition is to achieve power. Arvind Kejriwal, who used to gloat that only he and his party were honest and the rest of the people in the world are dishonest and corrupt, in just one jerk this entire bogus bundle of claims burst open. It was proved that the Aam Aadmi party was corrupt like other political parties. That stage of corruption which it took other parties years to occupy, the Aam Aadmi party managed to do in just four months. A dirty joke was played on the people of the country. Pash’s poem comes to mind: “The death of dreams is the most dangerous.’ The accusation of killing a dream is levelled against Arvind Kejriwal.
At Delhi’s Constitution Club on 21 November, a sting operation conducted under “Operation Lokpal’ was shown at a press conference. This was a film which had been prepared by the web portal ‘Media Sarkar’. Why was the film made? Why was it shown just before the elections? Is there any intrigue or conspiracy behind it? These things are debatable. But with what was seen in this sting operation, the hearts and minds of people were shaken. This is very shameful. The people of the country are shocked. The face of the Aam Aadmi party which flaunted its integrity has been exposed. That a face of such greed and fraud will be hidden behind the mask of honesty, perhaps nobody had thought even in a dream. If the video had not been shown, who would have believed that Aam Aadmi party leader Shazia Ilmi is ready to hold a ‘dharna’ (sit-in) or a demonstration after taking money? She goes to any dharna or demonstration for anybody who gives funds to the party, and she also gives a statement.
It was shown in this video how Shazia Ilmi was ready to take cash and ‘benami’ (A “proxy holding” (an ownership stake) that is held in someone else’s name, so as to presumably disguise or keep secret the identity of the true owner)money. She didn’t even ask what was the name of the company giving the money. What was the name of the opposing company against whom you wanted action? It was a matter of surprise that during this deal Shazia Ilmi also discloses how this benami money will be disposed by distribution amongst the salaried workers of the Aam Aadmi party. Not only this, the business of this beloved Aam Aadmi party leader is so big that she even has a secretary. In this sting operation she is seen saying how the money will be taken and how it will be used. And with all these things her secretary deals. In this video Shazia Ilmi’s secretary has also revealed many other secrets of the Aam Aadmi party. It was dislosed how the ‘benami’ cash would be spent on outdoor media, fuel for vehicles and the salaries of workers. This shows clearly the hollow claims of the Aam Aadmi party that every paise is accounted for on the party’s website.
It was also revealed in this sting operation that the most cherished leader of the Aam Aadmi party, Kumar Vishwas, does not hesitate at all to take black money either. The ‘Media Sarkar’ web portal’s reporter went to Kumar Vishwas’s home to conduct the sting operation. Poet Kumar Vishwas too has a secretary. The woman reporter had arrived to invite Kumar Vishwas for a programme. Discussions was held. How much money does Kumar Vishwas take to come a programme, a deal was made on this, and when it came to giving the money, Kumar Vishwas’s secretary disclosed that money is taken in cash also, but in return no receipt is given for it.

Those whom the people think will be their saviours, there is no difference between their slyness and the slyness of expert players in politics. If in the sting operation it had been isolated cases of one or two people getting caught, one could have understood, but many candidates and leaders?  Here there is, as the saying goes, hemp mixed in the whole well. With this sting operation, the fraudulent face of the Aam Aadmi party has been exposed.

The manner in which Kumar Vishwas’s secretary is keeping the money given by the reporter in his pocket can be clearly seen in the video. After the sting operation, what Kumar Vishwas said in his own defense is even more ridiculous and laughable. He said he was a poet who got the most money in the country, he takes remuneration for his talent. It is not a crime to take money in cash. But he does not have information about the law that if in the form of remuneration, you take fifty thousand or more rupees, then in this transaction it is necessary for both the person receiving the money and the person giving the money to have a PAN. Alongside, if you are practising politics for the poor and the common man, then the public has some expectations from you. Kumar Vishwas has not committed a crime, but the so-called image of himself that he has projected in society is absolutely opposite to his image as seen in the sting operation. In the sting operation, Kumar Vishwas talks about a five-star hotel and business class arrangements in flights being ready before he embarks on a journey, but otherwise you call yourself a grassroots leader. What is this if not hypocrisy?
During this sting operation, web portal ‘Media Sarkar’s’ reporters met several leaders of the Aam Aadmi party one by one. Whoever heard the thoughts, views and discussions captured on the video with several candidates for the assembly election were shocked. The people of the country have been cheated. The party in which the public was seeing a new and honest face, that party is deceiving them. A party which talks about the people, a party which boasts of bringing ‘swaraj’, fielded such great candidates who, in the sting operation, could be seen talking like ‘goondas’ (criminal elements) who forcibly occupy land and raise money. Those whom the people think will be their saviours, there is no difference between their slyness and the slyness of expert players in politics. If in the sting operation it had been isolated cases of one or two people getting caught, one could have understood, but candidate and leaders? – here there is, as the saying goes, hemp mixed in the whole well. With this sting operation, the fraudulent face of the Aam Aadmi party has been exposed. The Aam Aadmi party’s candidate for the Kondli assembly seat, Manoj Kumar, was promptly ready when the reporter offered every kind of support to get money in cash without anything in writing.
Manoj Kumar had no problem saying that he couldn’t go himself at the moment but he would send his person. He also gave an assurance that after winning the election, he would be with them. The question is, what kind of politics is this that a party’s candidate is giving an assurance that he would send his people to get out money that was ‘stuck’. This image is the image of a political criminal. Similarly, Dinesh, the candidate for Sangam Vihar, readily agreed to resolve a disputed property matter. From Okhla, Irfan, the Aam Aadmi’s party’s candidate, was trapped saying that he would get out the reporter’s cash which was ‘stuck’. Irfan went to the extent of saying that if it can’t be got out by direct, straightforward means, it would be brought out with a

crooked finger. After this the target of the sting operation was Mukesh Hooda, the party’s candidate from Rohtas Nagar, who assured that youths would be sent for booth capturing and for getting out money ‘stuck’ in the Loni area after 4 December, i.e. after the elections.

Obviously, the flak and ridicule being drawn by the  Aam Aadmi party is the result of its own mistakes. And the most surprising thing is that a candidate from Badarpur for the recent Delhi assembly elections accused Arvind Kejriwal of selling tickets for rupees two crores. Amidst all these allegations and accusations, the most important question that arises is that when your own workers conspire against the party and begin giving news to the media, make public the Smses exchanged between each other, it means that Arvind Kejriwal may be the party boss, but he has failed to provide competent leadership.

The party claiming to be the most honest party in the country has been exposed. If Arvind Kejriwal wants to make these kind of people MLAs and bring about a change in the system, then a question also arises over Kejriwal’s credibility. Apart from all this, in the sting operation the most dangerous thing was revealed by Prakash, the candidate from Devli. He said that all 70 candidates are dummies, that is, they are puppets. They cannot take any decision nor can they do anything that is in their mind, they function just on signals. This statement means that in the Aam Aadmi party, it isArvind Kejriwal’s decision that is the final decision. Workers don’t have a voice. The question arises that when a party gives extensive speeches on decentralisation of power, if within that party itself autocracy and ‘personality cult’ are followed, it must be assumed that such a party will be dangerous for democracy in the country.
With the reality that has come before one with this sting operation, people’s faith in the Aam Aadmi party has evaporated. It makes no now difference whether it won the elections or was defeated, because it has become part of the crowd of hundreds of parties present in the country, who are prepared to play every kind of trick and come to any kind of agreement for the sake of winning an election. It is sorrowful when false statements are also made by Arvind Kejriwal.
Before this sting operation, the Aam Aadmi party was trapped in one more dispute due to which the party came in for a lot of flak. Anna Hazareji wrote a letter to Arvind Kejriwal. In the letter he raised the matter of many ideological differences and other allegations. The most important point raised in the letter was that Anna asked Arvind Kejriwal that when he had already said the Aam Aadmi party should not use his name, why was his name being used? At the same time, he clarfied once again that the Aam Aadmi party does not have his support. In this letter, it was also asked what happened to the funds and donations which came in during the Jan Lokpal movement, and whether perchance they were not being used for the Aam Aadmi party. In the letter, Anna also inquired about the SIM cards issued in his name and also asked for an answer to the fact that when the Lok Sabha alone could pass the Jan Lokpal, why was the public being told a lie that the Lokpal Bill would be passed in the Delhi Assembly?
The moment he received this letter, Arvind Kejriwal got agitated. The ground slipped from under his feet. He prepared a reply to this letter and called a hurried press conference. This was Arvind Kejriwal’s biggest mistake. Anna had written a personal letter to Arvind Kejriwal, and therefore, ethically and morally Arvind Kejriwal should have replied through a personal letter or gone to meet Anna personally to answer his queries. But it seems that he was driven by greed to make Anna’s letter an issue and derive an electoral advantage from it and so he did the planning to make the letter public.
The press conference began. A while later, a worker from the Bharatiya Janata Party came and threw black ink on the face of Arvind Kejriwal, who was sitting on the stage. This created a furore in the press conference. Later on, the way in which Aam Aadmi party leaders went to different TV channels and began giving rhetorical statements was shameful. So far, people were under some confusion that the Aam Aadmi party had Anna Hazare’s indirect support. But this letter opened up that gilding and exposed the truth. The way this controversy was raised and treated by the media, in that only – and only — Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi party came in for flak and ridicule.
Arvind Kejrial and his colleagues alleged that some people were misleading Anna. Those same people told Anna false things and got him to write the letter. However, Anna Hazare himself had denied these charges. Despite this, Aam Aadmi party leaders kept making these false allegations through the conventional and social media. Actually, this entire incident is the outcome of the internal politics and differences within the Aam Aadmi party. The Aam Aadmi party or AAP built up leaders and workers in every locality in Delhi. In every locality, strong claimants for candidacy for the Delhi assembly elections sprang up. When the time to distribute tickets for the elections came, those who did not get tickets rebelled. Some people separated from AAP and formed BAAP ( Bharatiya Aam Aadmi Parivar). Questions were raised on the process of ticket distribution. It was these people who knocked on the doors of the court over the matter of SIM cards issued in Anna’s name being used. Alongside, they went to Anna and complained about it. Obviously, the flak and ridicule being drawn by the Aam Aadmi party is the result of its own mistakes. And the most surprising thing is that a candidate from Badarpur accused Arvind Kejriwal of selling tickets for rupees two crores. Amidst all these allegations and accusations, the most important question that arises is that when your own workers conspire against the party and begin giving news to the media, make public the Smses exchanged between each other, it means that Arvind Kejriwal may be the party boss, but he has failed to provide competent leadership.
It seems to some leaders of the Aam Aadmi party and those experts who debate in the media that Arvind Kejriwal has built his own position and he has gone way ahead of Anna Hazare. One pities the intelligence of such persons, because such people are totally cut off from the reality of India. History is witness to the fact that in this country only one thing is venerated and that is the spirit of sacrifice. In India ‘sants’ or great souls who have submitted to God in entirety have been venerated for centuries. Gandhiji is venerated because people see in him the image, the reflection of a ‘sant’. Therefore, neither Nehru nor any other hero can measure upto Gandhiji. Out of all the current leaders and social workers, Anna Hazare alone is a ‘sant’, a great soul. For a long time, he struggled in protest against very big and powerful political parties. The number of years of his struggle and social service, even most of the leaders and supporters the Aam Aadmi party are not of that age. Anna had said clearly said that electoral politics in this country is simply a game of power through money and money through power. This is slush, wet mud, in which whoever goes will get sullied or dirty. I wish Arvind Kejriwal and his colleagues had listened to Anna.
